Otunbayeva favors multiethnic army in Kyrgyzstan

OSH. May 30 (Interfax) - Kyrgyzstan must form a multiethnic army, Kyrgyz President Roza Otunbayeva said at festivities on the 19th anniversary of the establishment of the Kyrgyz Armed Forces.

"The president of the republic made special emphasis on the need to create conditions for the representation of various ethnic groups in law enforcement, prosecutor's bodies and the border force," Interfax was told at the presidential press service.

Otunbayeva said that military service opens up good opportunities for further employment in law enforcement and the army. "That is why the Defense Ministry should think and submit proposals on the development of mechanisms helping to make the army multiethnic," she said.
