Ukraine seeks solutions to satisfy both sides in Transdniestrian conflict - ambassador to Russia

MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - Progress in the Transdniestrian settlement may be achieved with the incumbent authorities of the unrecognized republic, Ukrainian Ambassador to Russia Volodymyr Yelchenko told Interfax.

"As for the possibility to settle the problem while the incumbent administration holds the office, I think there are no unsolvable problems. It is important to make decisions which would satisfy the conflicting parties within the consultations in the 5+2 format," he said.

Earlier reports said that Russia had recommended Transdniestrian invariable leader Igor Smirnov not to run for another term of office in the presidential election due this December.
