Kyrgyz Prosecutor General's Office to give more attention to ethnic or religiously motivated crimes

BISHKEK. May 30 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz Prosecutor General Kubatbek Baibolov has ordered more attention to the fulfillment of constitutional articles, which prohibit ethnic and religious discrimination and propaganda of ethnic, racial or religious feud.

"If any violations of law are exposed, they must be stopped and culprits must be put to justice with the full force of prosecutors' powers," a source at the Prosecutor General's Office told Interfax on Thursday.

"The most experienced and skilled prosecutors will be entrusted with the aforesaid trials," the source said.

Prosecutors together with other law enforcers must collect, store and process information about ethnic discrimination and feud, the prosecutor said.

There will be constant and efficient control over the fulfillment of these laws in the activity of security services, the police and the Justice Ministry.

"Timely, full, lawful and founded measures have a large significance," the source said.

Any media reports or statements made to prosecutors about the incitement to ethnic, racial or religious discrimination and feud must be immediately handed over to the Kyrgyz National Security Committee, which will respond in compliance with the law.
