OSH. May 30 (Interfax) - A citizen of Kyrgyzstan was shot dead by Uzbek border guards for trespassing the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border, eyewitnesses told Interfax.
"The incident happened on Friday, May 27, on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border in the Nooken district of the Jalal-Abad region [of southern Kyrgyzstan]. Uzbek border guards shot dead the border trespasser," they said.
"Uzbek border guards killed Pazyl Jalalov for moving several meters inside the Uzbek territory," they said.
The trespasser was first injured in his leg, and Uzbek border guards took him away.
"We are aware of this incident and can confirm it," First Deputy Commander of the Border Forces of the Kyrgyz National Security Committee Cholponbek Turusbekov told Interfax.
He said that he had received a report from Uzbek border guards. "Our citizen, who was drunk, penetrated ten meters inside the territory of Uzbekistan and tried to steal a horse from a border patrol," Turusbekov said.
