Upcoming ban on some Russian officials' entry to U.S. constitutes pressure on Russian justice system

GORKI. June 1 (Interfax) - Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika has called U.S. senator's initiative to deny entry to the U.S. to some Russian officials over the death of Hermitage Capital lawyer Sergei Magnitsky "unacceptable pressure on the investigators."

Chaika recalled that the investigation into this case continues and the judicial bodies "have not said their word yet."

"Open pressure is being exerted on the investigative bodies, on the Russian justice system. I believe it's unacceptable," Chaika told reporters on Tuesday.

In September 2010, Hermitage Capital reported that Benjamin Cardin, senator and chairman of the U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, had submitted to the U.S. Congress a bill envisioning a ban on the entry of Russian officials involved in the prosecution and death of Sergei Magnitsky. There are some sixty people on that list.
