MOSCOW. June 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Foreign manufacturers of navigation equipment have announced the launch of products using the Russian GLONASS navigation satellite system, so Russia should act more actively on the global market, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said at the opening of the fifth international forum on satellite navigation in Moscow.
"All leading world producers have announced the launch of chipsets using the GLONASS/GPS navigation technologies. Given such interest, we need to make a bolder entry into global markets and promote our intellectual potential more actively," Ivanov said.
"The position of the Russian leadership is unequivocal: we will continue to facilitate the development of our global navigation satellite system," he said.
In the future, GLONASS "will be fully compatible with other global and regional satellite navigation systems," Ivanov told the forum.
"Today Russia is fully capable of providing its own navigational sovereignty and guaranteeing free GLONASS signal coverage across the globe," he said.
