ROME. June 2 (Interfax) - The Russian and Italian presidents, Dmitry Medvedev and Giorgio Napolitano, discussed the present-day situation in the Middle East and North Africa at a meeting in Rome.
At the start of the meeting, Napolitano said that the Russian leader's agreement to attend events marking the 150th anniversary of the political unification of the Italian Republic was a sign of a true strategic partnership between the two countries, a Kremlin spokesman told Interfax.
"During the meeting, the leaders also discussed the situation in the Middle East and North Africa with a focus on the situation in Libya," the spokesman said.
Issues surrounding bilateral cooperation were addressed as well.
