St Petersburg police chief stepping down

ST. PETERSBURG. June 10 (Interfax) - The chief of the police authority of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, Vladislav Piotrovsky, on Thursday offered his resignation "due to staffing measures and transition to another position," the authority said.

Piotrovsky handed his letter of resignation to Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev to be passed over to President Dmitry Medvedev, the authority told Interfax.
