Mistral-class ships will boost Russian Navy's combat potential - commander

MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax-AVN) - The presence of Mistral-class helicopter carriers in the Russian Navy's composition will help significantly improve the efficiency of control of naval units within multi-service groups in sea and oceanic areas, Russian Navy Commander Adm. Vladimir Vysotsky said.

"Interest toward ships of this class is well understandable both due to its unique tactical and technical features and its multifunctionality," Vysotsky told journalists on Friday.

An amphibious assault ship and a helicopter carrier are "among the most rapidly developing types of surface warships," he said.
