MOSCOW. August 1 (Interfax-AVN) - The state program of armaments spanning a period until 2020 stipulates for the construction of some 40 vessels of different classes for the Navy, Russian Navy Commander Adm. Vladimir Vysotsky told Interfax-AVN on Sunday.
"There will be some 40 combat ships of various classes," he said speaking of plans of upgrading the Russian Navy.
Earlier President of the United Shipbuilding Corporation Roman Trotsenko said that 3 trillion to 4 trillion rubles will be spent on the procurement of armaments and military hardware until the year 2020.
"Depending on the year 15% to 20% of the state contract will go the Navy which is compatible with the international practice of ordering weaponry," he said.
