State defense order will be fulfilled on time - Serdyukov

MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Defense Ministry and defense companies will have finished the conclusion of contracts under the state defense order and have submitted a joint report in accordance with the schedule set by the president and prime minister, Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov told the press.

"The president has instructed us to complete the conclusion of contracts under the 2011 state defense order on schedule. We have signed all contracts on schedule and referred them to the industry on time," he said.

"The prime minister also issued the instruction for the Defense Ministry and defense companies to draw up a joint report on the implementation of the state defense order for 2011," he also said.

"We will fulfill this assignment on time, I think," Serdyukov said.

President Dmitry Medvedev instructed the defense minister to look into the situation with the state defense order for 2011 early in July. On July 12, he met with Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov, who is responsible for this sector of the government, and with Serdyukov, and demanded that the Defense Ministry "work energetically, quickly and in a concentrated manner" while forming the state defense order.

This week, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has instructed the defense ministry and defense companies to complete the conclusion of contracts under the state defense order for 2011.
