MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - The Inter-state Aviation Committee has dismissed the suggestion by the Polish state commission that looked into the presidential plane crash, that the radar system at the Smolensk-Severny airfield was not operational at the time of landing.
"The hypothesis in the Polish report, alleging that the radar system was not operational during landing, is baseless," IAC technical commission chairman Alexei Morozov said.
The operational condition of the equipment was proved by the results of an overflight, performed at the behest of the technical commission almost immediately after the air crash, without any changes in the natural landscape, he added.
