Estonian defense minister discusses cyber security in U.S.

TALLINN. Aug 3 (Interfax) - During his visit to the United States, Estonian Defense Minister Mart Laar discussed cyberspace security problems with chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee Joe Lieberman.

The Estonian Defense Ministry told Interfax on Tuesday that "the main attention at the meeting was paid to cyber defense and the Cyber Defense Union set up in Estonia."

Estonia serves as an example to other countries both in democratic and economic reforms and in building and defending the electronic state, Lieberman said.

"The United States is also actively involved in cyber security efforts, but it is struck by the effectiveness and inspiration of Estonia in this sphere," Laar noted.

During his visit, Laar will meet U.S. politicians and analysts and discuss key directions of bilateral cooperation, interaction in defense and cyber security and the situation in Russia.
