ALMATY. Aug 4 (Interfax-AVN) - Steppe Eagle 2011 tactical exercises will begin at the Iliysky training center in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan on August 8.
The exercises will check the interaction between Kazakhstan's Kazbrig peacekeeping brigade and NATO servicemen in a joint operation, the Kazakh Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
Representatives of the ministry, foreign military observers, experts from NATO staffs and military diplomats accredited to Kazakhstan will watch the opening ceremony.
More than 1,400 servicemen with about 100 pieces of military equipment from Kazakhstan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Latvia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan will take part in the three-week training.
A peacekeeping operation will be the peak of the exercises.
