NATO already planning military operation against Syria - Russian envoy

MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax) - Moscow's NATO envoy Dmitry Rogozin claims that the alliance has already started to plan the beginning of a military operation against Syria, the Izvestia newspaper reported in its Friday issue.

"This campaign could become a logical conclusion to the fire and media operations carried out by some countries in the West in relation to North Africa," Rogozin said.

Russia, "anticipating a Libya-style incorrect interpretation of the UN Security Council's resolution there [in Syria], will object to any military scenario," he said.

Mass protests that have been raging across Syria since March have been harshly suppressed by President Bashar al-Assad's government.
