Almaz-Antei to showcase new Tor-M2K SAM system at MAKS 2011 air show

MOSCOW. Aug 12 (Interfax-AVN) - More than 20 full-scale specimen of defense and civilian products made by Concern PVO Almaz-Antei will be displayed at the MAKS 2011 International Aerospace Show.

"The Tor-M2K surface-to-air missile (SAM) system with modular weapons will be demonstrated as a model at the air show for the first time," Almaz-Antei said in a press release obtained by Interfax-AVN on Friday.

The system provides efficient air defense for army forces on the move and in all mobile forms of modern battle, as well as the protection for criminal government and defense assets from an airstrike by aircraft, helicopters, cruise missile, unmanned aerial vehicles, guided air bombs and anti-radar missiles, the press release said.

"The creation of the Tor-M2K involved a large number of new technological and constructive solutions, as opposed to the widely known and well proven Tor-M1 SAM," the press release said.
