MOSCOW. Aug 12 (Interfax) - The Russian Interior Ministry has approved a list of grounds for referral to medical psychological rehabilitation for Internal Troops servicemen, the Rossiiskaya Gazeta newspaper wrote on Friday.
"Combatants who served in an armed conflict zone or were involved in a disaster response operation for more than a month, fall under special psychological control. The pilots have not been forgotten, those who exceeded the yearly norm of flight hours by a half during special missions also qualify. Special forces must undergo compulsory checks after a combat mission. Others on the list are divers, sailors, sentinels who experienced horror during accidents at safeguarded facilities (for instance, a fire at a power station) and so on," the article says.
Army servicemen will be required to undergo an unscheduled medical examination within no more than three days after returning from a dangerous mission, the newspaper said. Simultaneously, the arriving personnel will also undergo a psychological examination.
"If someone survived an air crash, or a shipwreck, or a parachute failure, or worked with radioactive substances for more than 90 days, demined bombs and so on - these are also reasons for rehabilitation," the newspaper said.
If specialists find that there is something wrong with a person, they will refer them to a sanatorium for a special rehabilitation course, and the procedures can take from 14 to 30 days depending on the combatant's condition.
"Base commanders are now responsible for the timeliness, organization and provision of rehabilitation measures. Until now, there has been no centralized control over psychological problems of combatants," the Rossiiskaya Gazeta said.
