MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the United States will hopefully not attack his country, but if a war begins Iran will strike back.
Iran will give a crushing response and it would be a normal reaction, he said in an interview with the Russia Today television channel on Monday.
Washington wants to launch a military operation against Iran, but it has been refraining from it, aware that Iran's response will be extremely resolute, he said.
An Iranian proverb says: If someone hurls a small stone at you, a larger stone must be thrown back, he said, adding that Iran will defend itself to the extent its capabilities allow.
But he noted that he does not see reasons for the U.S to attack Iran.
Hopefully, they will never come. There are no reasons to start up a war and to attack Iran, Ahmadinejad said.
