Contract servicemen's monthly allowance will exceed 30,000 rubles - General Staff

MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax-AVN) - Contract servicemen in the Russian army will get over 30,000 rubles a month, Vasily Smirnov, deputy head of the Russian General Staff, told a press conference in Moscow on Friday.

"A contract serviceman in the Ground Forces will get some 31,000 rubles and contract servicemen in high-tech arms and branches of troops such as the Air Force, RVSN and the Space Troops will get even more," Smirnov said.

Smirnov said the General Staff has introduced tough criteria for the selection of contract servicemen and requirements to their professional training.

"We plan to publish all these requirements and the information on the conditions of military service and available vacancies in military units in the Internet. Citizens should be able to check if they comply with the requirements in the Internet before military service," Smirnov said.
