Prosecutors blame negligence of Roscosmos plants staff for loss of satellite, spaceship (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Oct 18 (Interfax) - The loss of the Express AM4 satellite and the Progress freighter was caused by negligence on the part of employees of state owned enterprises controlled by the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), as well as by the absence of the agency's supervision over the adoption of appropriate decisions, Russian Prosecutor General's Office spokeswoman Marina Gridneva told Interfax.

"It has been established that both accidents happened due to negligence on the part of employees of the space industry's state owned enterprises controlled by the Federal Space Agency during the required checks, as well as due to the absence of Roscosmos's proper control over the adoption of appropriate decisions by the officials in charge of these issues," she said.

The Prosecutor General's Office wants the Roscosmos administration to impose disciplinary sanctions and fines on those responsible for the disasters, as well as to recover compensation for the damage caused to the state from the legal entities responsible for what happened, Gridneva said.
