TALLINN. Oct 18 (Interfax) - Estonia did not make any claims to Russia to demand a compensation for "the Soviet occupation," the Estonian Foreign Ministry told Interfax on Tuesday.
"Estonia did not lay before Russia any formal petition for a compensation for the occupation," said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Helen Rits, commenting on a statement by head of the Russian presidential commission for rehabilitation of the victims of political repressions Mikhail Mityukov about the "unfairness and baselessness" of the Baltic States' claims.
"Vilnius' claims against Russia amount to $20 billion, Riga's $200 billion, and Tallinn's $4 billion for environmental damage plus 250,000 per each victim of repressions," Mityukov said earlier.
"Russia cannot bear responsibility for the political repressions committed by the USSR authorities, except the obligation to fully disclose information about these crimes," he said.
