ESA to continue navigation satellite launches with Soyuz rockets

MOSCOW. Oct 20 (Interfax-AVN) - The European Space Agency (ESA) will continue to use Russian Soyuz-ST rockets for launching European navigation satellites, Galileo Project System Engineering Manager Jorg Hahn told a press conference in Moscow on Thursday.

He said they had paid for seven Soyuz launches in all as the Soyuz launch vehicle was well known to the ESA.

The ESA will also launch Galileo satellites with Ariane rockets, but that will require the rocket's modernization, Hahn said.
