Medvedev: Those who do not want to feed police will encounter street violence

MOSCOW. Oct 21 (Interfax) - The state authorities will not change their position on the plan to increase pay for police, and urge deputies who oppose it to inform their voters, President Dmitry Medvedev said.

"Those who are against this budgetary spending must honestly tell their voters about that. These people are against a higher pay for police, against a decent pay for our law enforcement services. We are not coming the same way with such people. And we will vote for such spending," Medvedev said in a video linkup with the United Russia party's regional campaign staffs.

Medvedev said he would support such spending as president and that his support is shared by the government and "our main party - United Russia."

Those who do not feed their own army will feed someone else's, Medvedev quoted a saying, and paraphrased it: "Those who do not want to feed their police, will get confronted with street violence."
