West wants to repeat Libyan scenario in Syria - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov believes that the Western approach to restoring normalcy in Syria may lead to the repletion of the developments in Libya.

"The Western resolution [on Syria] is fraught with the repetition of the Libyan scenario," he said in a Friday interview with three Russian radio stations.

He said that the resolution "does not give permission to use armed force but contains one-sided evaluations of the situation."

"The entire blame is placed on the government of President Bashar Assad and it demands that all countries demonstrate vigilance in arms sales and certain other contacts with the Syrian side," Lavrov said.

He noted that according to human rights activists 2,700 people have died in Syria, about 800 of them law enforcers.
