MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - The international military coalition fighting in Afghanistan must report its performance to the UN Security Council before it pulls out of the country, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We insist that the withdrawal of the coalition from Afghanistan should not be linked to any deadlines set artificially," Lavrov said in an interview with radio stations Ekho Moskvy (Echo of Moscow), Golos Rossii (Voice of Russia) and Radio Rossii (Radio of Russia) on Friday.
The coalition received its mandate for armed action in Afghanistan from the Security Council and so the coalition must make a report to the council before it leaves that country, he said.
"We will press for this," the minister said.
