Lavrov praises his cooperation with Clinton

MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said he is contented with his cooperation with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

"It is a pleasure to deal with Hillary, and she is very comfortable to talk to. She does not forget about issues we confront her with, and we try to do the same," Lavrov said in an interview with the radio stations Echo Moskvy, the Voice of Russia, and Radio Rossii on Friday.

There is not always enough time to discuss "an intensive agenda" at negotiations with Clinton, he said.

The Russian-U.S. presidential commission includes 20 task forces, Lavrov said.

"We have to review everything that has been done in each of these 20 task forces at each of our meetings," he said.

These task forces deal with the economy, energy, healthcare, civil society, the rule of law, military cooperation, international security and other issues, he said.

"The international agenda is also very intensive, including events in the Middle East, northern Africa, Afghanistan, Iraq, the Asia-Pacific region, or Latin America. The U.S. and Russia have their interests everywhere. Both states are actively present here and there," he said.

"It is in our best interests not to try to work against each other but try to apply our significant joint potential primarily to the benefit of the nations that live in the relevant regions, and second, to the benefit of our states, viewing mutual advantage as a principle of international communication," he said.
