MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax-AVN) - A NATO delegation led by Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe, British Army Gen Sir Richard Shirreff will come to Moscow on October 24, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"The visit is a part of exchanges of mobile groups between the Russian Defense Ministry and NATO. The delegation is made up of authoritative specialists, most of them from the NATO ruling bodies. The NATO mobile group will work at the Military Academy of the General Staff during its visit to Moscow," says a ministry report received by Interfax-AVN on Monday.
The joint work aims to inform the Academy staff about the military structures of the alliance, their tasks, functions and capacities. The NATO mobile group members will deliver lectures on a broad range of issues, primarily on the current condition and prospects of Russia-NATO cooperation in defense and military-technical spheres, the report said.
The NATO officers will share the experience of preparations and holding of massive exercises, define military-political interests and priorities of the alliance in its international activity, speak about the making of strategic decisions on the NATO involvement in operations in conflict zones and military reforms.
The visit will end on October 28.
