Prosecutor in Manezhnaya riots trial seeks probe after being threatened - office

MOSCOW. Oct 31 (Interfax) - The prosecutor at a current trial of suspected organizers of last year's mass riots on Moscow's Manezhnaya Square has asked for a criminal investigation into an incident on Friday in which an unidentified person "threw some liquid on him and threatened him by shouting, 'Death to the prosecutor!'" the Prosecutor General's Office said.

The incident occurred when the prosecutor was being interviewed by reporters outside the Tverskoi Court, being asked about the trial.

The attack was qualified as "a threat made to a prosecutor in connection with a court case and effected by inflicting injury on the health of prosecutor," the Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement.

The prosecutor asked Russia's Investigative Committee to take up the incident.
