Russia, Ukraine complete registration of JV to build nuclear fuel plant

MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Securities Commission on Thursday approved a share issue of a Russian-Ukrainian joint venture for building a nuclear fuel plant, which has actually completed the joint venture's establishment procedure, the TVEL nuclear fuel company, an affiliate of the Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom and the joint venture's co-founder, said in a statement on Saturday.

It was reported earlier that the Ukrainian state concern Nuclear Fuel will hold 50% plus one share in the project, and the other 50% minus one share will belong to TVEL.

Russia and Ukraine founded the nuclear fuel plant in mid-September.

The parties signed an agreement on building a nuclear fuel plant on Ukrainian territory in October 2010.

The first phase of the plant should be completed in 2015, after which the facility will start manufacturing fuel rods and fuel bundles. The completion of the construction and the launch of the production of fuel pellets and powders is expected in 2020.
