Russia successfully accomplishes Glonass development plan of 2011

MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax-AVN) - The launch of a Glonass-M satellite from Plesetsk, Arkhangelsk region, on Monday means the successful completion of the yearly Glonass development plan, Russian Space Systems press secretary Alexander Zubakhin told Interfax-AVN.

"Russia successfully accomplished the Glonass development plan of this year. The Glonass cluster will consist of 30 satellites, today's launch included," he said.

The Glonass cluster grew to its normal size - 24 satellites - in 2011 for the first time in the past decade, Zubakhin said.

"The formation of the orbiting reserve began this year for the first time ever," he added.
