BISHKEK. Dec 1 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President-Elect Almazbek Atambayev, inaugurated on Thursday, pledges a resolute struggle against nationalism.
"Our fatherland must be united; anyone trying to split the country by nationality or region is an enemy of the state," he said in his first official speech after taking the presidential oath.
"We must stop persuading such people but be firm in using the Criminal Code," he said.
The president stressed the need for preservation of inter-ethnic accord in Kyrgyzstan. "The provision of security and order must start from every family, from every town in Kyrgyzstan," he said.
