OIC opposes foreign interference in Syria

ASTANA. Dec 1 (Interfax) - The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) discussed the Syrian situation at its Jeddah headquarters. Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov chaired the meeting, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said.

Representatives of 32 OIC member states discussed the current problems in Syria, the ministry said.

They adopted a communique calling for the immediate end to violence in Syria, the beginning of a broad inter-Syrian dialogue and reforms, and normalization.

In the minister's words, "the representatives of the OIC member states unanimously supported territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence for Syria and stressed once again that they rejected any intervention or foreign interference in the internal affairs of that state."
