Afghanistan should be neutral - Lavrov

BONN. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Russia calls for restoring Afghanistan's neutrality after the pullout of the international forces.

"The restoration of neutral status of Afghanistan after the withdrawal of the international stabilization forces would be a key factor in creating an atmosphere of neighborliness and cooperation," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the Bonn conference on Afghanistan on Monday.

"We hope that the people of Afghanistan will support this idea suggested by the Presidents of Russia and the United States in a joint statement," Lavrov said.
