MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - The penalty for organizing illegal migration could be increased to imprisonment of up to five years, the Russian Federal Migration Service (FMS) said.
"The liability for violation of the registration rules must be increased. The Russian FMS is again ready to prepare proposals on changes to the migration laws," FMS chief Konstantin Romodanovsky said at a FMS collegium meeting.
The liability imposed by Article 322 of the Russian Penal Code (organizing illegal migration) must be increased, he said.
"We propose increasing the penalty in part one (of the Article) to up to two years, in part two, up to five years," Romodanovsky said.
