Israel, Spain extradite two suspects to Russia

MOSCOW. Jan 27 (Interfax) - Two Russians charged with serious crimes have been extradited by Israel and Spain, Russian Prosecutor General's Office spokeswoman Marina Gridneva said.

"At the request of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, the Israeli authorities decided to extradite Russian citizen Pavel Yeryomenko. The Spanish authorities are extraditing Russian citizen Yevgeny Drobota," Gridneva told Interfax on Thursday.

Yeryomenko is charged with sexual abuse of a person aged under 14, she said. Dobrota is charged with massive fraud (Article 159 of the Russian Penal Code) and falsifying evidence.

"The criminal case against Yeryomenko was opened in January 2005. In May 2005, he was put on the federal wanted list and had been wanted by Interpol since June 2008. After his whereabouts were established in Israel in June 2008, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office sent an extradition request to the Israeli Justice Ministry in July 2008," Gridneva said.

This is third request for extradition of Russian citizens, granted by Israel over the past four years, she said.

"The extradition of Dobrota from Madrid to Moscow was organized by officers from the Interpol National Central Bureau of the Russian Interior Ministry," the spokesperson said

In 2008, the suspect falsified job contracts between him and employers and submitted them with the Orenburg district court in order to obtain a compensation of around 4 million rubles, the official said.
