MOSCOW. Jan 27 (Interfax) - The Moscow law enforcement authorities have sufficient potential to counter terrorism, which was demonstrated by drills held in Moscow, the Federal Security Service (FSB) headquarters for Moscow and the Moscow region said in a statement obtained by Interfax on Thursday.
"The results of the exercise have shown in general that Moscow headquarters forces are ready to implement the necessary measures to counter acts of terrorism in public places," the statement said.
The exercise was held at the Global City shopping mall in the Chertanovo Severnoye district of southern Moscow, it said.
"The exercise aimed to check the readiness of the forces and equipment being employed in counterterrorist operations in public places and to practice maneuvering skills and continuous group control when receiving unexpected data," the press release said.
The event involved the FSB central and Moscow headquarters, the Federal Protective Service, the Moscow offices of the Interior and Emergency Situations Ministries, as well as Moscow government officials.
