MOSCOW. Jan 27 (Interfax) - The West tries to implement sanctions against Syria in order to realize the Libyan scenario, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
"We see an attempt to start repeating the Libyan scenario, which is absolutely unacceptable for us," Ryabkov said on the air of the Ekho Moskvy radio station on Thursday evening.
"We will make every effort to put a barrier to this," he said.
The sanctions proposed by the West infringe Syria's sovereignty, he said. "We think that the form of sanctions proposed by our Western partners unjustifiably infringe the country's sovereignty," Ryabkov said.
