Launch of Proton carrier with American satellite could be rescheduled - source

BAIKONUR. Jan 27 (Interfax-AVN) - The postponement of the Baikonur launch of the Dutch NSS-14 (SES-4) satellite may lead to rescheduling the launch of the American Sirius FM-6 satellite, a source at space port Yuzhny told Interfax-AVN.

"Everything will depend on how quickly the problems uncovered before the launch of the Dutch satellite will be fixed. If it goes into orbit in early February, the launch of the Sirius FM-6, also scheduled for February, will not have to be put off," he said.

Otherwise, the American satellite's launch will be inevitably re-scheduled.

The Sirius FM-6 (Radiosat 6) is intended to provide direct broadcasting to the United States. It was built by Space Systems Loral (SSL) based on the 1300 space platform on order from the Sirius Satellite Radio broadcasting corporation. The 6-tonne satellite is expected to remain in a geostationary orbit for 15 years as a minimum.
