Terror suspect detained near Bishkek

BISHKEK. Feb 10 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz security forces have arrested a man suspected of committing a number of terrorist attacks, the republic's State National Security Committee Border Troops told Interfax on Friday.

A member of a terrorist group called Zhaishul Makhdi, Daniyar Kadyraliyev was arrested during a counter-terrorist operation, the spokesperson said.

He was arrested not far from Bishkek. Security forces also found a cache containing a Kalashnikov assault rifle with six charged magazines and components of an improvised explosive device.

The terrorist group member is charged with committing a terrorist attack outside the building of a sports cultural center in Bishkek on November 30, 2010; an armed robbery attack on a U.S. citizen on December 24, 2010; an attempt to blow up a car with a planted bomb near the Bishkek central police department building on December 25, 2010; four murders and other crimes.

The suspect is being held at a pre-trial detention facility of the State National Security Committee.
