"Mechanical failure" seen as likeliest cause of Russian fighter crash

CHELYABINSK, Russia. Feb 14 (Interfax-AVN) - "Mechanical failure" is seen as the likeliest cause of the February 13 crash of a Sukhoi Su-24 fighter-bomber in Russia's Kurgan region, a source on the Shagol airfield in the Chelyabinsk region told Interfax-AVN.

The source said the jet's crew had been pilots from the Voronezh Air Base.

The crew managed to eject safely.
