Two militants killed in Nalchik

MOSCOW. April 6 (Interfax) - Two members of an illegal armed group have been killed in Nalchik, a spokesman for the Kabardino-Balkaria's Investigative Committee told Interfax.

"Two members of an illegal armed group were blocked in Nalchik. When proposed to surrender, one of the militant threw a grenade at a police officer. They were killed after policemen returned fire," the spokesman said.

A grenade, two knifes and an improvised explosive device were seized from the crime scene.

In a separate incident in Nalchik, a policeman was hospitalized with stab wounds, the spokesman said. "Two unidentified assailants approached police lieutenant in Nlachik and stabbed him eight times," he said.

In Dagestan's Khasavyurt district, police found a cache with five improved explosive devices, the press service of Dagestan's Interior Ministry told Interfax. The cache was destroyed.
