Man gets 19 years in jail over bombing in Russia's N. Caucasus

VLADIKAVKAZ, Russia. April 27 (Interfax) - A man convicted of co-organizing a bombing outside a market in Vladikavkaz, capital of the North Ossetia republic in the North Caucasus, was sentenced on Friday to 19 years in prison.

Magomed Latyrov will have to spend a 14-year portion of his term in a high security prison under the sentence of the North Ossetian Supreme Court, the court told Interfax.

Latyrov was charged under seven Criminal Code articles and was convicted under all of them. His charges included "an attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer," "participation in a criminal association," "banditry," terrorism, arms trafficking, and participation in the "illegal manufacturing of weapons by an organized group."
