Fourteen people could have been killed in Makhachkala bombings

TYUMEN. May 5 (Interfax) - Senior Lieutenant David Druzhchenko of the Tyumen Police died of a severe wound, sustained in the double terror attack in Makhachkala, at the city hospital on Friday.

Druzhchenko, a graduate of the Tyumen Law Institute, was 25, the Tyumen Regional Police reported on Saturday.

He was the 14th victim of the bombings, although this cannot be asserted definitely, being far away from the scene, the regional police said.

"We think he was the 14th victim. Reports released immediately after the terror attack said 13 people were killed. David died on Friday evening," the regional police said.

Earlier reports said Police Major Alexander Likhachyov of the Tyumen Regional Police, aged 39, was killed in the Makhachkala bombings.

A bomb blew up near a police checkpoint in Makhachkala on Thursday evening. The bomb was planted in a car that was stopped for an ID check. A fire broke out at the scene after the blast. A second bomb went off in a car parked near-by after rescuers arrived.

Immediate reports said 13 people were killed and more than a hundred injured.

May 5 is a day of mourning in Dagestan for the victims of the double terror attack in Makhachkala.
