MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) plan their combat training in such a way as to enhance the crews' readiness and perfect their skills, RVSN Commander Lt. Gen. Sergei Karakayev told the media.
"The winter training period mostly aimed to maintain the skills of crews in mobile systems regiments in deploying missile systems on combat patrolling routes and field positions," Karakayev, said while speaking about the RVSN's winter training period which lasted from December 1 2011 to May 2012.
Ninety-five percent of the field training episodes involved the deployment of missile regiments and self-propelled system battalions on combat patrolling routes. By comparison, this share was 90% in 2011. This helped fulfill the task of maintaining the self-propelled launcher regiments' readiness for maneuver operations at the required level, he said.
