Group of Afghans traveling with false Kyrgyz passports to Germany stopped in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. May 21 (Interfax) - Six Afghan citizens trying to cross the border with false passports have been detained at Astana airport, the border service of Kazakhstan's National Security Committee has announced.

A press release of the service says that the Afghan citizens were stopped during passport control of passengers of a flight to Frankfurt.

They produced Kyrgyz passports. "The passports contained fake Schengen visas allowing them to enter the Europe Union, travel and stay there," the press release says.

"It was discovered that they had intended to fly to Germany with the purpose of getting refugee status there," the border service reports.

A probe has been launched with regard to the detained foreigners.
