Man killed in western Moscow identified as former Georgian General Dumbadze

MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - The man killed on Moscow's Rublyovo-Uspenskoye Highway on Monday has been identified as former Georgian general, ex-commander of the 25th Batumi brigade of the Georgian Defense Ministry Roman Dumbadze, a police source told Interfax.

The Russian president granted naturalization to Dumbadze in 2010.

Dumbadze is known for his refusal to obey by orders of the Georgian president in the conflict between Georgian and Ajarian authorities and publicly declaring his direct subordination to Aslan Abashidze. Georgian security services detained him, and he was kept in a detention ward for rather long.

Another police source told Interfax earlier that a man was murdered near 30 Rublyovskoye Highway in western Moscow. He said men on a motorcycle shot him down and escaped from the crime scene.
