KYIV. May 22 (Interfax) - Ukraine is ready to continue cooperation with NATO using its strategic transport aviation to complete the military operation in Afghanistan, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said.
In his speech at the meeting of the countries contributing to ISAF in Afghanistan in Chicago on Monday, Yanukovych recalled that a decision has been made to increase the Ukrainian personnel by adding army aviation instructors to it in August 2012.
"I also confirm our readiness to join the Danish initiative called the Coalition of Committed Contributors and make a contribution to this important cause," he said.
Yanukovych said Ukraine has recently joined the project to train specialists from Afghanistan and Central Asia specializing in the fight against illegal drug turnover. "We consider this project to be important and promising and we plan to increase our participation in it in the future," he said.
