Annan plan replacement out of question - ministry

MOSCOW. June 7 (Interfax) - There is no alternative to the current plan proposed by United Nations - Arab League Special Envoy Kofi Annan, Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said.

"The UN Security Council resolutions must be complied with efficiently and responsibly. There is no second, third or other plan, I think," he said at a briefing on Thursday.

"This is a basic plan which was endorsed by the UN Security Council resolutions and met unanimous support among all permanent members, and I would say, more broadly, among the entire international community," Lukashevich said.

"I have not heard of any attempt to think up a second plan. Our idea in support of this plan consists in calling a meeting of the concerned nations, which could work out a mechanism of boosting international cooperation in support of Kofi Annan's plan," the Russian diplomat said.
