Russia, Kazakhstan will further promote ties in space exploration

ASTANA. June 8 (Interfax) - Moscow and Astana have signed a joint statement on the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

"We discussed the development of our cooperation in space exploration in detail. The Baikonur Cosmodrome is a matter of pride both for Russia and Kazakhstan. It benefits our countries," he said.

"We also spoke about Kazakh specialists' contribution to this area [space exploration], educational programs for young people and, what counts most, the need to maintain the infrastructure of the town of Baikonur," the Kazakh leader said.
