KYIV. June 8 (Interfax-AVN) - Ukraine's state-owned aircraft repairs firm Aviakon is to provide comprehensive repairs and after-sales services for Russian helicopters under a framework agreement with Helicopter Service Company, part of the Russian Helicopters holding company.
The agreement prescribes setting up a certified regional repairs and maintenance network for helicopters including Mil Mi-8/Mi-17, Mi-2 and Mi-26 multirole craft, Aviakon, which is based in Konotop, Sumy region, told Interfax.
The two sides are still working through the details of the project. The final agreement is due to be signed later this year.
Aviakon chief executive Maksym Glushchenko said cooperation with Russian Helicopters "will make it possible to expand the presence of Aviakon in the global helicopter repairs and maintenance market and give it access to state-of-the-art design technologies for developing its own helicopters."
